From September 15-16, 2020 we took the opportunity to showcase our latest innovation in the field of tailor welded blanks made of ultra-high-strength steel at our virtual booth.
Manganese-boron steels have a surface coating of aluminum and silicon. This AlSi coating is usually removed prior to welding to prevent the formation of brittle intermetallic phases and ferritic areas in the weld seam. We have been using this process since 2015.
Alternatively, we can offer our customers the HotWire technology. The advanced technology makes it possible to omit the removal of the AlSi coating. This naturally has many advantages for our customers.
